Tom Littman, Ph.D.

Audiologist/Partner

Meet Tom Littman, Ph.D.

Certified dementia practitioner (CDP)
Certificate holder in tinnitus management (CH-TM).

Meet Dr. Tom Littman, a seasoned professional with a Ph.D. in Audiology from Louisiana State University, complemented by a 3-year post-doctoral fellowship at Northwestern University.  Dr. Littman is a Board Certified Audiologist with over four decades of clinical expertise. He has shared his wealth of knowledge as a faculty member in the Clinical Doctorate in Audiology programs at Baylor College of Medicine and at the University of Washington. Dr. Littman’s contributions include numerous publications in professional journals and presentations at clinical conferences. As a committed leader, he has served on the Board of Directors for key professional organizations at both State and National levels, earning recognition as an American Academy of Audiology Scholar and from the American Tinnitus Association.

In June 2008, Dr. Littman established his own audiology practice in Factoria, where he offers comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitation services. His dedication to patient care begins with a 90 minute intitial appointment, including discussion of the patient’s overall health and communication needs, followed by a thorough diagnostic evaluation that includes 7 to 12 different tests. Dr. Littman spends the rest of the appointment explaining the test results and how they affect each patient’s communication ability. This process ensures that an ideal management plan is developed, tailored to individual needs.

In response to the needs of his community, Dr. Littman obtained specialized training in tinnitus management, becoming a certified provider in 2020. In the past, too many patients had been told by various care providers that “they would just have to learn to live with it”. Dr. Littman firmly believes that this is simply not true, and that we can find ways to significantly reduce its severity. Through innovative programs like Tinnitus Retraining Therapy, Progressive Tinnitus Management, bimodal neural stimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation, he has improved quality of life for patients suffering from tinnitus.

A growing body of research has shown that untreated hearing loss may be the number one modifiable risk factor for cognitive decline. Recognizing this, Dr. Littman recently attained certification in dementia care, partnering with renowned experts to become a certified dementia practitioner in 2024. This certification equips him to provide support to both patients and their families, offering counseling, education, and strategies for mitigating the progression of the disorder. Patients are now provided cognitive screening as part of their care program. If hearing aids are indicated, listening training is also available to help the brain learn to listen more effectively. Dr. Littman is committed to following current scientific developments to ensure that his patients are provided optimal evidence-based care.
